About the Department
The Department of Sanskrit was set up in the academic session of 1968-69 as a three-year General Degree Course. Three-year Honours Course was started in the academic session of 2008-09. The department has two full time teachers in the sanctioned posts and two SACT teachers. The Sanskrit Day is celebrated every year on the day of Rakhi Purnima and the programme is conducted in Sanskrit language. The nine months Sanskrit spoken class was conducted from 2009 to 2010 by Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan. The wall-magazine is published in Sanskrit language with Devanagaric letters. An educational tour for Sanskrit students is conducted by the department every year. The Vedic chanting and some Sanskrit classes are taught by audio visual medium and application of computers. The students from Sanskrit Department participate in college cultural programmes, that too in Sanskrit language, every year. The departmental seminar is conducted to induce interest in the students. A humble collection of books for on Sanskrit are available in our Department Library.
